A Brief Introduction to the Baldrige Framework for Performance Excellence (0.5 RU/CEU)
The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award is the nation’s only Presidential award, given to organizations in the business, health care, education and nonprofit sectors for performance excellence. Administered by NIST at the national level and an array of nonprofits at the state and regional level, the award has recognized organizations ranging the gamut from Don Chalmers Ford auto dealership to the City of Fort Collins, CO. From the Pewaukee School District to St David’s Healthcare. All in a quest to improve the competitiveness, agility, innovation and performance of American organizations of all kinds. Baldrige isn’t just for manufacturing anymore!
This talk will cover the history of the Baldrige award and criteria, introduce key elements of the framework and discuss the award process at the national and regional level. We will take a look at the impact of the Baldrige process and look at some ways that individuals and organizations can get involved without necessarily applying for an award.
